Experiment: flat?space.depth!
lekimberly.github.io/week-5-proj/index.html
In flat?space.depth! I utilize the PlaneBufferGeometry class and the MeshBasicMaterial to create the words in a 3D format. Flat, space, and depth were the three keywords I chose to incorporate into this week’s experiment. These three words tie together the differences between 2D and 3D artwork. The space of a 2-dimensional world is flat, while the space of a 3-dimensional world has depth that a flat world does not. My 3D piece plays with depth by allowing the user to spin the words and see the depth of when one word is further than another.
Computer code is, in a sense, a language, but not the same as languages that humans use to communicate to one another. Rather, it is used for a human to communicate to a computer -- to tell the computer to do execute certain actions. It can also be used for communication between computers. The addressees of Codework is nettime and readers who may want to know what Codework is. In “What is Codework?”, Alan Sondheim mentions that Codework is the linguistic kernel. As the linguistic kernel and being behind the presentation, Codework is the foundational and behind-the-scenes functionality.
